Guiting Power, Gloucestershire
Our team recently carried out traditional Cotswold stone slate roofing works across multiple Grade II listed properties in the beautiful village of Guiting Power in the Cotswolds. With the existing roof coverings reaching the end of their life, each property required a full re-roof. Using natural Cotswold stone slates, our skilled roofers completed approximately 700 m² of roofing within a three-month schedule, preserving these stunning properties' traditional character and heritage.

Works Carried Out
- Removal: Carefully stripped the existing roof covering from each property.
- Dressing & Sizing: Dressed and sized the existing stone slates for reuse, setting aside any that had perished.
- Felt & Battens: Laid new felt and fitted battens to create a sound, level base for the slates.
- Slate Laying: Laid the stone slates, with our team supplying around 50% additional slates to make up for those that had perished.
Materials Used in This Roofing Project
- Cotswold Stone Slates: Original slates dressed and reused, combined with stone slates supplied by our team to replace perished slates.
- Roofing Felt: Providing a protective layer beneath the slates. [product name needed]
- Timber Battens: Creating a level base for slate fixing.
The Process
Work had to be completed within a three-month window due to the bat licence covering the properties. To achieve this, we ran all projects at the same time, with multiple operatives working on each property. This meant carefully coordinating the supply of stone slates and materials to multiple sites, alongside scaffolding and waste requirements.
The finished roofs preserve the traditional character and heritage of these stunning properties, and our team takes pride in the high-quality craftsmanship delivered across every site.
